Man-eating wolves have spread terror in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district. From July to last Monday, wolves have killed a total of eight people, including seven children. Wolves have even picked up children sleeping with their mothers and eaten them. So far, about 36 people, including women, children and the elderly, have been injured in wolf attacks. Meanwhile, experts have expressed apprehension that these wolves are attacking in Bahraich with the motive of taking revenge.
Wolves are the ones who take revenge
Amid the increasing attacks by wolves in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, shooters have been deployed in the affected areas. Meanwhile, experts have expressed serious apprehension. Experts say that wolves are vengeful animals and these attacks are probably being carried out by wolves as a revenge for the harm caused to their children by humans in the past. Gyan Prakash Singh, who retired from the Indian Forest Service (IFS) and was a forest officer in the Katarniaghat Wildlife Division of Bahraich district, has said this.
Similar incidents happened in Jaunpur and Pratapgarh districts
Gyan Prakash Singh has also mentioned an old incident similar to the one in Bahraich. He has told that 20-25 years ago, more than 50 human children were killed in wolf attacks in the basin of the Sai river in Jaunpur and Pratapgarh districts of Uttar Pradesh. On investigation, it was found that some children had entered a den of wolves and killed two of their children. The wolf takes revenge and that is why more than 50 human children died in their attack. A similar case seems to be there in Bahraich too.
Man-eating wolves were killed
Gyan Prakash Singh further said that when the wolf attacks in Jaunpur and Pratapgarh were investigated in detail, it was found that the wolves had become very aggressive after the death of their cubs. During the forest department’s campaign, some wolves were caught, but the man-eating couple kept escaping and became successful in their mission of revenge. However, ultimately the man-eating wolves were identified and both were shot, after which the incidents of wolf attacks stopped.
Recently two wolf cubs died
Gyan Prakash Singh has told that in January-February this year, two wolf cubs were crushed to death by a tractor in Bahraich. When the wolves started attacking, the attacking wolves were caught and left in the Chakia forest of Bahraich, 40-50 km away. Perhaps a mistake was made here. He told that Chakia forest is not a natural habitat for wolves. It is more likely that these wolves have returned from Chakia to their den on the banks of river Ghaghra and are carrying out attacks to take revenge. (Input: Bhasha)
