Giving a big gift to the women of Punjab on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday announced the recruitment of 3,000 new Anganwadi workers, thereby creating huge employment opportunities for women. Addressing a state-level function on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan in Barnala, the Chief Minister said that the state government has started the process in this regard and recruitment for these posts would be done soon. He said that this move would create new employment opportunities which would be extremely helpful in asserting greater rights for women.
Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that the state government is sympathetically considering the legitimate demands of Anganwadi workers. The Chief Minister said that the government is making many efforts aimed at women empowerment. Women officers have been appointed as Senior Superintendents of Police in 6 districts of the state and Deputy Commissioners in 8 districts. Major efforts are being made for the welfare of girls in the state and these efforts are yielding positive results.
Rules will be amended for recruitment of women in fire fighting staff
The Chief Minister said that necessary amendments were being made in the rules to change the existing standards of physical test for the recruitment of women in the fire staff. The Chief Minister said that it was sad that the previous governments did nothing to change these rules as these leaders had no concern for the people and their problems. Mann announced that Punjab would be the first state in the country to recruit girls in the fire staff.
So far 44,700 youth have been given government jobs
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has so far given government jobs to 44,700 youths in various departments. He said that the entire recruitment process has been done in a fair manner. He said that the youth’s confidence in the policies and intentions of the State Government has increased, due to which they are staying here and preparing for government jobs, giving up their intention of going abroad. The Chief Minister also said that the State Government is opening 8 hi-tech coaching centers to train students for competitive examinations. These centers will provide training to the youth to pass the UPSC examination so that our youth can serve in high positions in the state and the country.
