Jodhpur, Sep 5 (IANS) In the backdrop of the rape and murder of a woman doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Rajasthan Medical and Health Minister Gajendra Singh on Thursday said that no dark zones will be allowed in state hospitals and CCTV cameras will be installed everywhere.
Here in the divisional level meeting of Jodhpur, he said that only psychiatric people commit heinous acts like rape. The minister is organizing face to face meetings in all the divisions so that the medical system can be strengthened further.
Regarding one person being employed on two posts in the medical department, he said that the department is facing two major challenges – shortage of staff. He said that soon new recruitments will be done in the department and the posts will be filled. There will be no dark zone in any hospital, CCTV cameras will be installed along with the arrangement of lights at all places in the next two days. On the broken roads of the city, he said that the roads of all the cities will be repaired as soon as the rain stops.
Gajendra Singh said that our entire team is visiting every division of Rajasthan. We will first go to the division and then to the districts so that we can get direct information about the problems of the public. All the heads of our departments, CMHO, Joint Director, Head of Medical College will be able to contact us directly so that the problems can be resolved. Many problems come up in face-to-face meetings which cannot be done during video conferencing. This is the first division where we are holding a meeting and later we will visit all the divisions and districts. So far, issues have been going on for many days regarding pollution and tampering, which we are trying to resolve.
He said that the government is committed to ensuring the safety of resident doctors and staff, especially women. It is sad to see the incidents of rape in the state, such as the rape of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl. People who commit such incidents are mentally ill, who are on the verge of insanity. God has not given such a character to humans that they commit such heinous crimes.
He said that they are facing two major challenges – shortage of staff and level of risk. Unless the staffing pattern is completed, patients will not be able to be treated. The Chief Minister has approved 55 thousand recruitments to the department, out of which five thousand people have already joined and four thousand people will join soon. 45 thousand more people will be recruited by November.
The minister said that after the new recruitments, the number of nurses, doctors, lab technicians, and radiographers will increase. Apart from this, the transfer policy is also going to change, in which zones will be created and doctors will be recruited in areas where there is a shortage of doctors. This policy has been presented in the cabinet.
