Surat, Sep 6 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the launch event of ‘Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Initiative’ in Surat, Gujarat through video conferencing on Friday at 12:30 pm.
Taking forward the Prime Minister’s vision of water conservation, this initiative aims to conserve water with an emphasis on community participation and ownership. It reflects the resolve of the entire society and the entire Government.
Let us tell you that based on the success of the water conservation initiative led by the Government of Gujarat, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, in collaboration with the state government, is launching the “Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari” initiative in Gujarat. The Gujarat government has tried to organize citizens, local bodies, industries and other stakeholders to ‘ensure a water secure future’.
Under this programme, around 24,800 rainwater harvesting structures are being constructed across the state with community participation. These recharge structures will help in increasing rainwater harvesting and ensuring long-term water sustainability.
The programme reflects PM Modi’s holistic approach towards society and calls for collective action to turn every drop of rain into a valuable resource. The structures built under this initiative will play a vital role in rainwater harvesting and will also showcase Gujarat’s efforts towards water conservation by the community and will also promote corporate social responsibility participation.
Prime Minister Modi has outlined water conservation as a national mission, reflecting his long-term support. The initiative will involve state nodal officers across the country and reflects the national importance of creating a sustainable and water-secure future for generations to come.
The initiative builds on the success of the ‘Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain’ launched in 2019. Despite the pandemic, the campaign has become an annual nationwide effort. Its current version emphasises the role of women in water management under the theme ‘Nari Shakti se Jal Shakti’.
