Asian Games 2026: A historic decision was taken to include Yogasana sport in the Asian Games in the 44th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. This decision is a matter of pride for Indian sports, especially Yogasana players. OCA officials and representatives of many member countries participated in this General Assembly. The Government of India and Yogasana India made special efforts for this decision, as a result of which Yogasana was recognized as a sport and it got a place in the Asian Games.
Raja Randhir Singh of India was elected as the President of OCA at the general assembly. He said that the calendar for the Asian Games to be held in Nagoya, Japan in the year 2026 has already been prepared, so it was decided to include yogasana as a demonstration sport in the 2026 Asian Games. Raja Randhir Singh said that there is a risk of injury in other sports, but this is not the case with yogasana sport, “Yogasana sport not only promotes physical fitness but also encourages mental balance. Including it in the Asian Games is an important step to honor the ancient heritage of Asia.”
Indian Olympic Association (OCA) President P.T. Usha had sent a proposal letter to the OCA President in June to include yogasana in the Asian Games, for which all the officials, employees, especially the players associated with the yoga sport are thankful. India’s Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also expressed his happiness on this occasion and said that “It is a matter of pride for us that yoga, which is India’s cultural heritage, will now be a part of the Asian Games in the form of yogasana. This step will establish yogasana as a global sport.”
In the general meeting, yogasana players from Haryana, Gujarat and Maharashtra gave a wonderful demonstration of different events included in the yogasana game. On this occasion, General Secretary of World Yogasana Dr. Jaideep Arya, President of Yogasana India Udit Seth, President of Asian Yogasana Dr. Sanjay Malpani, General Secretary Umang Don, Treasurer Umesh Narang and Treasurer of Yogasana India Rachit Kaushik were present.
General Secretary of World Yogasana, Dr. Jaideep Arya said that the players of Haryana are at the top in every sport and bring laurels to the state as well as the entire country and we are confident that Haryana will remain number one in the Yogasana sport too and will get its talent recognized. Now that Yogasana has got a place in the Asian Games, Yogasana players of Haryana will be sent abroad to popularize the sport in the country and abroad. Now the need for Yogasana coaches and technical officials is also being felt in the country and the world. India is constantly striving to keep the ancient heritage of India alive. This is a big step towards making Yogasana an international sport.
