In Hinduism, Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp and show. During this 10-day long festival, the women of the house start preparing for everything from decorating the house to decorating Bappa’s temple, many days in advance. During these ten days, different things are prepared and offered to Bappa as prasad. Ganeshotsav in Mumbai is something else. On this day, women not only worship in the traditional way but also like to dress up in the traditional Maharashtrian way. If you also want to carry a Maharashtrian look on this Ganeshotsav but are unaware of everything from wearing a Maharashtrian sari to makeup, then these tips can be very useful for you.
Makeup
To do Maharashtrian makeup, first apply foundation on the face and then apply kajal and liner on the eyes. After this, you can apply eyeliner matching the saree on the eyes and apply light blusher on the cheeks. After this, apply red and white kumkum on the forehead for the bindi.
Accessories
To style your hair after makeup, make a bun and put a gajra in it. After this, take the help of Marathi Nath to enhance your Maharashtrian look. Apart from this, to complete your look, apply three black dots on the chin, wear green glass bangles in the hands and small temple jewellery around the neck.
Saree
A saree worn in Maharashtrian style can change your look. Even if you have done very simple makeup on your face, but a properly worn Maharashtrian style saree can make your look very glamorous. If you do not have this saree, then you can wear any saree with heavy border. To wear this saree, first wrap the saree around the waist and bring it to the front and tie a knot in the front. Now hold the saree from the short end and take it out from between the legs and put it in the middle of the waist. Now hold the long end of the saree and make 6 pleats of it and put them in the middle of the waist in the front. After this, make 5 pleats of the pallu and bring it from the back of the waist to the front and set it with a pin.
