Akash Vijayvargiya has been acquitted in the case of allegedly beating an Indore Municipal Corporation employee with a bat. The prosecution got a big setback in this case on Monday when 10 people including former Bharatiya Janata Party (RJD) MLA Akash Vijayvargiya were acquitted of the charges by the Special Court. Dev Kumar, the presiding officer of the court hearing cases related to MLAs and MPs, acquitted Vijayvargiya and nine others of the charges.
Defence lawyer Uday Pratap Singh Kushwaha told reporters that the prosecution could not prove the charges in the court in this case. Due to this, the court acquitted Vijayvargiya and nine others, while another accused in the case has been killed. He said that the authenticity of the alleged video of this incident could not be proved in the special court and the complainant officer of the Municipal Corporation Dhirendra Singh Bais and 20 other witnesses of the prosecution did not clearly support the prosecution’s story in the court.
Bias said in his statement during cross-examination in the court that during the alleged incident he had suffered an injury on his right leg below the knee. He confirmed during cross-examination that at the time he suffered the injury, he was talking on a mobile phone and as his entire attention was on the device, he could not see who caused the injury.

Akash Vijayvargiya is the son of state cabinet minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. Officials said a case was registered against the then BJP MLA Akash Vijayvargiya and 10 others on June 26, 2019 for allegedly beating Municipal Corporation building inspector Bais with a cricket bat.
The FIR was registered under sections 353 (assault on public servant to deter him from discharge of his duty), 294 (assault), 323 (assault), 506 (criminal intimidation), 147 (rioting) and 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons) of the Indian Penal Code.
At the time of the alleged incident, Akash Vijayvargiya was protesting against the demolition of a dilapidated house in the Ganji Compound area of the city. The alleged video of the incident, which took place during the tenure of the previous Congress government led by Kamal Nath in the state, went viral on social media and following this, the then BJP MLA was arrested. He later got bail in the case.
