Satyendra Narayan Sinha (English: Satyendra Narayan Sinha, born- 12 September 1917, Magadh Mandal, Bihar, pre-independence; died- 4 September 2006, Patna) was an Indian politician and former Chief Minister of Bihar. People fondly called him Chhote Saheb. He has been a freedom fighter, politician, MP, Education Minister and Chief Minister of Bihar state of India.
He became the Chief Minister at the age of 72. Before this, he tried to become the Chief Minister in 1977 but was unsuccessful. In fact, Chhote Saheb was not so lucky and despite being the seniormost leader of Bihar for years, he was not made the Chief Minister.
“In his six-decade long political life, Chhote Saheb established many milestones. He motivated youth and students to join politics.”
After participating in the struggle, at the time of independence, his name had become important in national politics. But Satyendra Narayan Sinha’s primary interest was in state politics. This is the reason why he became the Education Minister of Bihar in 1961 in the capacity of Deputy Chief Minister.
He played a decisive role in Bihar politics in the sixth and seventh decades. He sacrificed human feelings for politics. As education minister, he brought about educational reforms and also established Magadh University. He was famous in the country for his ideological politics. Satyendra Babu was in favour of giving a new direction to education and giving a proper place to youth and students in politics.
Chhote Saheb played a leading role in the development of Bihar. Satyendra Babu laid the foundation stone of the historic planetarium which is the pride of the capital and gives Patna a distinct identity across the country.
