On Wednesday, the government announced to cover all senior citizens above 70 years of age under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). A very big and important update has come today on this scheme of the government. According to the information received from the Ministry of Health, to get benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, senior citizens of 70 years and above will have to apply through a mobile app.
The plan is to be started within a month
The government is trying to start this scheme for senior citizens above 70 years of age within a month. The order will come in a week. The government is also going to launch a campaign to promote this scheme. The special thing is that senior citizens will be able to join this scheme only through Aadhar card.
People of these 3 states will not be able to get the benefit
Let us tell you that senior citizens of Delhi, West Bengal and Odisha will not be able to avail the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Actually, these states have not implemented the Ayushman Bharat scheme. But after the formation of BJP government in Odisha, this scheme can be implemented there.
You will get free health insurance of Rs 5 lakh every year
Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had said on Wednesday that all senior citizens above the age of 70 years in the country will be covered under the PM Jan Arogya Yojana. With this, all senior citizens above the age of 70 years in the country will start getting free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh every year.
6 crore senior citizens will get benefit
Currently, under this scheme, poor families of the country get health insurance of Rs 5 lakh every year. But now all senior citizens above the age of 70 years will get the benefit of this scheme, irrespective of their income group. With this decision of the government, 6 crore senior citizens across the country will get the benefit of the scheme.
