The police on Friday arrested three wanted accused in the case of kidnapping two army officers who had come for a picnic in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh and allegedly raping their female friend at gunpoint.

The police had announced a reward of Rs 10,000 for the arrest of each of them. He said that the accused arrested from the Manpur forest include Rohit Girwal (23), Sandeep Waria (18) and Sachin Makwana (25). The officer said that three accused of the incident that took place on Tuesday night near the famous tourist spot Jam Gate have already been arrested.
Superintendent of Police (rural) Hitika Vasal said that all the six accused had approached these people because of loud music in a deserted area. Vasal said that both the army officers along with their two female friends were present at the spot since 11 pm on Tuesday night. The incident took place near the famous tourist spot Jam Gate. This place is about 30 km away from Mhow military cantonment.
Jam Gate, situated on the Vindhyachal mountain range, is surrounded by forests. During the rainy season, this place is crowded with tourists during the day, but as soon as night falls, silence prevails there. The Superintendent of Police said that the four people were listening to music at high volume. Late night, hearing the continuous loud music in the deserted area, six accused reached the spot and committed the crime.
Vasal said that one of the attackers threatened the victims with a pistol, while the other accused had sticks. He said that as soon as the police got information about the incident, they reached the spot, “but the accused fled after seeing the headlights of the police vehicle.” In the FIR registered in this case, there is also an allegation of rape of a girl.
When asked about the current status of the investigation into this allegation, the Superintendent of Police said that the girl, who is in shock after the incident, is not ready to record her statement at the moment. He said that the police is trying to record the girl’s statement. Also, the accused are being questioned about the alleged rape.
Different things are coming out on social media about how the army officers and the women met each other. Meanwhile, a police officer termed the rumour that the army officers and the women came in contact with each other through a dating app as a rumour.
