Iran sent satellite into space
Tehran: Iran has not stopped even after the death of its former President Ibrahim Raisi. Achieving a major success, Iran on Saturday sent a satellite into space with a rocket built by the country’s paramilitary force Revolutionary Guard. State media gave this information. Iran called this launch successful, which would be the second launch to put the satellite in orbit. However, the success of the launch has not been independently confirmed and neither have Iranian officials provided any footage or other details in this regard.
Western countries fear that this could help Iran move forward with its ballistic missile program. Iran has carried out this launch amid growing tensions in West Asia over the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. During the war, Iran carried out unprecedented direct missile and drone attacks on Israel. Meanwhile, Iran’s uranium enrichment is about to reach the enrichment level required to make weapons. Disarmament experts have expressed concern about this program of Tehran.
100 rockets were used
Iran has said that the ‘Qaim-100’ rocket was used to launch the satellite and the Revolutionary Guard had used it during another successful launch in January. State media reported that the satellite named Chamran-1 weighs 60 kg. The US State Department and the US military were asked for a response on Iran’s launch, but no reply was received. Earlier, the US had said that Iran’s satellite launch was a violation of the United Nations Security Council resolution. (Bhasha)
