The film released in 1992 did wonders in theatres
Actually, the reason for Aamir Khan not attending any award function is a 32-year-old film. It is the year 1992, this year many big films were released in theatres. These included Anil Kapoor-Madhuri Dixit’s ‘Beta’ and Aamir Khan’s ‘Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar’. These films gave a tough competition to each other at the box office. Aamir Khan also had high expectations from his film. He hoped that the kind of love his film has received, it will do wonders in award functions as well.
Aamir Khan’s films were ignored in award functions
But, contrary to expectations, his film ‘Beta’ was a hit everywhere. Anil Kapoor won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for Beta. Aamir would not have taken this to heart if his films were not rejected at award functions for the next two years. After Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, two more great films of Aamir Khan were released. The first was ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’ and the second was ‘Rangeela’ and both these films did wonders at the box office.

But, like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Aamir Khan’s film neither won any award in IIFA nor in Filmfare. Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Baazigar’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, which were released during this time, were all over the place. Shahrukh Khan won the Best Actor award for these films. Aamir Khan became very angry due to the constant neglect of his films and then he avoided the award functions. Aamir Khan has even said that he does not believe in these awards.
