New Delhi, September 15 (IANS). After a slowdown in the demand for automobiles and consumer electronic products in the last few months, the demand is once again returning due to discounts during the festive season. Many media reports have said that due to Ganesh Chaturthi and Onam, there is an increase in the demand for automobiles and electronics.
Reports said that in view of festivals like Onam, Navratri, Durga Puja and Diwali, electronics, automobile and smartphone companies are offering discounts up to 30 percent to customers.
According to the information, Maruti Suzuki’s bookings have increased by 10 percent in Kerala before Onam and the same situation has been seen in Maharashtra and Karnataka on the first day of Ganesh Chaturthi. During Onam, sales of two-wheelers have increased by 15 to 16 percent.
Reports said that vehicle sales during the festive season could increase by 15 percent from the average of 3,30,000 units in the first five months of the current financial year. At the same time, sales of consumer electronics could see an increase of 7 to 8 percent compared to last year.
Sales of frost-free refrigerators have increased by 15 percent in Onam. At the same time, sales of single-door refrigerators have decreased by 6 to 7 percent. Sales of full automatic washing machines have increased by 12 to 13 percent. At the same time, sales of semi-automatic washing machines have increased by 4 to 5 percent.
Earlier, a report claimed that more than 10 lakh additional jobs can be seen in India during the festive season. These jobs will be created in the hotel, e-commerce, logistics, consumer goods, banking, financial services, insurance (BFSI) and retail sectors. The highest increase in jobs compared to last year will be seen in the e-commerce sector. The reason for this is the shift of customers towards online commerce.
