New Delhi, Sep 16 (IANS) Reacting to the alleged assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, Elon Musk made a controversial statement. He questioned, “Why is there no assassination attempt on US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris?”
On Sunday, there was a second assassination attempt on Trump when shots were fired outside a golf course in Florida where he was golfing.
The FBI said there was an alleged assassination attempt on him in Florida. The Republican presidential candidate’s campaign and law enforcement agencies said he was safe and sound.
Responding to an X user’s question, “Why do they want to kill Donald Trump?”, the Tesla CEO wrote, “And no one is trying to kill Biden/Kamala.”
The head of Tesla and SpaceX is a Trump supporter and has often written posts in his favor.
The US Secret Service has confirmed that one or more of its agents opened fire on a gunman near the boundary of Trump’s golf course and that an ‘AK-47 style rifle’ along with a video camera was recovered.
According to officials, it is still not confirmed whether the gunman, named Ryan Wesley Routh, opened fire on the former president, but Secret Service agents did shoot at the suspect who was hiding in bushes on the golf course.
The former US President’s son, Donald Trump Jr, said authorities also found an AK-47 rifle in bushes very close to where Trump was leaving.
“Again guys! There was a shooting at the Trump golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. According to local law enforcement, an AK-47 was found in the bushes,” he said in a post on X.
The assassination attempt on Trump comes two months after he was shot at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
He then suffered a minor injury in his right ear. The attacker was immediately shot dead by security personnel.
The White House issued a statement saying that both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, Trump’s Democratic rival in the November elections, had been briefed on the incident.
“There is no place in our country for political violence, or violence of any kind,” President Joe Biden said in a statement.
