Atishi Marlena was born on June 8, 1981. Both her parents, Vijay Singh and Tripti Singh, are professors at Delhi University. She completed her schooling from Springdales School in Delhi. She completed her graduation (History honours) from St. Stephens College, Delhi University in 2001. She topped Delhi University in her graduation by securing the first rank.
Atishi received her master’s degree in history from Oxford University in 2003 through a Chevening Scholarship. Later in 2005, she went to Magdalen College, Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar for Educational Research. Atishi also has teaching experience. Before joining politics, she taught history and English at Rishi Valley School in Andhra Pradesh. With her appointment to the CM post, Atishi has not only become the third woman Chief Minister of Delhi but also the second woman to lead a state in India after Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal.
