Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari
Ghaziabad: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday slammed agencies and contractors over poorly maintained roads, saying that good contractors will be rewarded but bad contractors will be thrown out of the system. “We will not spare anyone who builds bad roads. We will ensure that the bank guarantees of those who do bad work are confiscated and after that we will blacklist them. We will not allow them to apply for new tenders,” the Union Minister said.
Gadkari got angry after seeing the bad condition of Eastern Peripheral Expressway
Nitin Gadkari’s warning came after he noticed the poor maintenance of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway on which he had arrived in Ghaziabad to inaugurate the tree plantation drive ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ under the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 – Swabhav Swachhata – Sanskar Swachhata’ campaign. The Union Minister expressed displeasure over the maintenance of the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and reprimanded the concerned agencies and contractors.
Bad contractors should be blacklisted
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said that the office bearers of the association are sitting here (among the audience at the event), the roads should be well maintained. I saw the road today, its maintenance is very poor. We will not leave you. I have used the Eastern Peripheral Expressway after a long time. A lot of work has been done. Now I want that many people who do not work should retire. Some contractors should be blacklisted and the bank guarantee of some should be seized. Let us tell you that earlier there have been complaints of poor highways and road construction at some places. At many places, the road itself caved in during the rain.
