The spark that ignited due to the mosque dispute in Sanjauli, a suburb of Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla, has now spread across the state. On Thursday, a large number of Hindu community people came out on the streets in Nerwa of Chaupal subdivision of Shimla district. People carried out this protest on the call of Karni Sena and Hindu organizations.
The protesters expressed their anger over illegal construction in mosques and non-registration of people from the Muslim community coming from outside states. The special thing was that all the traders of Nerwa kept their shops closed since morning to protest on the call of Hindu organizations. During this time, a heavy police force was also deployed on the spot by the administration and no untoward incident took place.
Hindu organizations took out a rally from Nerva Bazaar to Dundi Mata Mandir. During this, the local people raised strong slogans against a particular community. Not only this, the protesters also tried to move towards a mosque built here. But the police present with force stopped them from moving forward.
In fact, on September 11, during a protest against the illegal part of the mosque in Shimla, Karni Sena and Hindu organizations were enraged by the police lathicharge. Therefore, they had called for a protest in Nerwa on Thursday. The protesters demanded to curb the increasing number of outsiders in the state and to get them verified.
Hindu Jagran Manch leader Kamal Gautam also reached Nerwa due to the protest in the Sanjauli Mosque case. He was detained by the police during the protest in Sanjauli. Kamal Gautam said during the protest in Nerwa that during the protest in Sanjauli, the police lathi-charged the elderly, women and even the youth. This happened at the behest of the state government. He said that not only Nerwa and Chaupal, but the entire state has been encroached upon by people coming from outside. Being Hindus, it is our duty towards our Dev Bhoomi that we should protect our land.
