Dinesh Thakur (English: Dinesh Thakur, born: 1947, Jaipur, Rajasthan; died: 20 September 2012) was a famous actor and director of the past era of theatre. He also acted in many English films. He received the Filmfare Award for Basu Chatterjee’s film ‘Rajnigandha’.
Dinesh Thakur was born in 1947 in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. He graduated from Kirori Mal College (KMC) of Delhi University, where he joined KMC’s dramatic society. He was the founder and director of ANK Productions, a theatre company in Mumbai, established in 1976. He is survived by his wife, actress Preeta Mathur.
Dinesh Thakur has worked in many successful films like Mere Apne, Rajnigandha and Ghar. For the last three decades, he was running a theatre group by the name of ANK Productions. Dinesh Thakur has mainly appeared in English films in character roles. As a screenwriter and story writer, he is best known for writing the story and screenplay of the film Ghar (1978), which won him the 1979 Filmfare Best Story Award.
Theatre actor and director Dinesh Thakur died in Mumbai on September 20, 2012 after a prolonged illness. He was 65 years old. Dinesh was known for his character roles in English cinema in the 70s.[1]
