Kailash Choudhary (English: Kailash Choudhary, born- 20 September. 1973) is a politician of Bharatiya Janata Party who is the current Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in the Government of India. He is a Lok Sabha MP from Barmer, Rajasthan. He is a former MLA from Baytu in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
Kailash Choudhary has been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for a long time. He has also been the president of ‘BJP Kisan Morcha’ Rajasthan. The initial political journey of the newly elected MP from Barmer-Jaisalmer, Kailash Choudhary, who is included in the cabinet of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was quite a struggle. He was associated with RSS since childhood and started his career with student politics and became MLA from Baytu in 2013. This is the second time in the 67-year history of Parliament that an MP from Barmer has become a minister. Earlier, Kalyan Singh Kalvi was the Union Energy Minister from 1990-1991. After this, Kailash Choudhary is the second MP who has joined the cabinet in the central government. The surprising thing is that after completing graduation, when he did not get any special recognition in politics, Kailash Choudhary also worked as a bus conductor to earn a living.
Kailash Choudhary contested the councillor election in 1999 from old ward no. 19 situated on Samdari Road in Balotra, but had to face defeat here. Then in the year 2004, he was elected as a member of the Zila Parishad. After about 15 years of political struggle, in the year 2006, while giving a memorandum for justice to the Kawas flood victims, he got into a tussle with the then UPA president Sonia Gandhi and the then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot over various demands. Till now Kailash Choudhary has contested three assembly elections. In 2008, he contested the first assembly election from Baytu and lost by 36418 votes. In 2013, Kailash won from Baytu by 13974 votes. In 2018, he contested the assembly elections from Baytu again, but lost by 18311 votes. In 2019, he contested the Lok Sabha elections for the first time and defeated Congress candidate Manvendra Singh by 3 lakh 23 thousand 808 votes.
