New Delhi, September 20 (IANS) Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi’s future Chief Minister Atishi on Friday attacked the Centre and other BJP-ruled states. Atishi said that if Arvind Kejriwal is not made to win the elections this time, the condition of Delhiites will become like that of Uttar Pradesh and other BJP-ruled states in terms of electricity bills and power cuts.
The Uttar Pradesh government has increased the price of electricity connection by 250 times. Poor families in Uttar Pradesh who take small 1 kilowatt connections, earlier used to pay only 1200 rupees. Now it has been increased to 3000. That is an increase of 250 percent. If someone has a 5 kilowatt electricity connection, which is a common thing for ordinary middle class people living in Delhi. The UP government has increased the price of that 5 kilowatt electricity connection by 118 percent. It has been increased from 7967 to 17365 rupees. That is an increase of 118 percent.
Atishi has alleged that the UP government has provided long power cuts and the most expensive electricity in its most hi-tech city Greater Noida, Noida, Ghaziabad and Sahibabad in this summer season. This is the reason why it is very important for the people of Delhi to re-elect Arvind Kejriwal and make him the Chief Minister of Delhi again.
Atishi has said that Arvind Kejriwal’s model is 24 hours and the cheapest electricity. This year, there was no load shedding in Delhi even on the peak demand of 8400 MW on 19 June. There was no power cut in Delhi. The Aam Aadmi Party government provides electricity 24 hours a day and the cheapest electricity. There are 37 lakh such consumers in Delhi whose electricity bill is zero. There are 15 lakh such families who get electricity bills at half the price.
Atishi said that if compared to other BJP ruled states, Delhi provides the cheapest electricity. In Delhi, the bill for 400 units is Rs 980. The bill for the same units in Ahmedabad in Gujarat is Rs 2044. In Gurgaon in Haryana it is Rs 2300. In Madhya Pradesh it is Rs 3800 and in Maharashtra the bill comes to Rs 4460. That means in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, where there is a BJP government, the bill for 400 units of electricity is four times more than in Delhi. Long power cuts and the most expensive electricity is the BJP’s model.
Atishi appealed to the public that today I want to tell all the people of Delhi that when the elections come in February, the people of Delhi have to come together and make Arvind Kejriwal the Chief Minister again. The Aam Aadmi Party government has to be formed. Only then will Delhi get 24-hour electricity and the cheapest electricity. In the coming four months, as long as I have the responsibility of being the Chief Minister of Delhi, I know that the Bharatiya Janata Party will definitely hatch some conspiracy through its LG sahab. But on behalf of the Aam Aadmi Party and Arvind Kejriwal, I promise the people of Delhi that we will not let the electricity bills of the people of Delhi increase.
