Mumbai, Sep 20 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nitesh Rane made a controversial statement while addressing a public meeting in Sangoli on Friday. He said that if the policemen are given leave for not more than 24 hours, then we (Hindus) will show our strength. We will make them realize how much power we have.
Now All-India-Majlis-e-Ittehadul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Waris Pathan has hit back at this statement of Nitesh Rane. He said, “Lions are not affected by the barking of dogs. These people make absurd statements every day. I had said this earlier and I am saying it again that before the Maharashtra assembly elections, the BJP wants to spoil the atmosphere here, so such controversial statements are being made.”
Taking a dig at the BJP, he said, “The BJP wants to create riots in the state. It wants to create an atmosphere of tension in the state by any means, so that people’s attention is diverted from the real issues. These people know that they have not done anything in the name of development, so they are making such controversial statements to spoil the political atmosphere in the state. Earlier, Ramgiri had made a controversial statement about our lord. We had lodged an FIR in this regard, but unfortunately no action was taken. Not only this, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde says that no one can harm him. What is this, you do not take any action against the man who hurt Muslims all over the world.”
Taking a dig at Nitesh Rane, Waris Pathan said, “This same Rane had earlier said that we will enter the mosque and kill Muslims. Hey, I say come to the mosque. You will come to the mosque on two legs, but will go on a stretcher. We are not afraid of anyone. We are not wearing bangles. We follow the law and order, so we are not saying anything, but I want to make one thing clear that our silence should not be misused. Muslims follow the law, that is why they are silent, otherwise we are not going to be afraid of anyone.”
Waris Pathan further said, “Nitesh Rane is saying that give leave to the police within 24 hours, after that we will show you our power. If Waris Pathan had said the same thing, then these people would have put me in jail today.”
He further said, “According to the Supreme Court, this is a controversial statement, but despite this the police is not taking any action. I want to know why the police is silent till now? Why is the police not taking any action? What has happened to the police? I know that these people do not have any answer. Why are such people being released who speak nonsense about Muslims? Especially these people want to spoil the atmosphere of the state before the assembly elections. We want the Chief Minister and DGP of Maharashtra to take cognizance of the matter and take appropriate action immediately. Such people should be put in jail. Such people want to make the atmosphere in the state violent. I demand from the police to arrest them and take immediate action against them.”
