PM Narendra Modi In Quad Summit
Wilmington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Quad is not against anyone but it is in favor of a rules-based international order and respect for sovereignty. “A free, open, inclusive and prosperous Indo-Pacific is our priority,” Prime Minister Modi said at the summit on Saturday. US President Joe Biden hosted the annual Quad summit in his hometown Wilmington. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida attended the Quad summit.
PM Modi did not take anyone’s name
Without naming any country, Prime Minister Modi said, “We are not against anyone. We all support a rule-based international order, respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity and peaceful resolution of all issues.” The Prime Minister was indirectly pointing towards China. China is involved in the South China Sea and East China Sea regional disputes. China claims its sovereignty over the entire South China Sea, while Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Brunei and Taiwan also claim it.
‘Quad will remain’
Prime Minister Modi said, “Our message is clear that the Quad will sustain, assist, partner and complement.” He said, “Together we have taken many positive and inclusive initiatives in areas such as health security, critical and emerging technologies, climate change, capacity building.” The Prime Minister said, “The leaders of the Quad have gathered at a time when the whole world is surrounded by tensions and conflicts. At such a time, the Quad working together with its democratic values is important for the entire human race.” Prime Minister Modi is on a three-day visit to America. He will address the ‘Summit of the Future’ program at the United Nations General Assembly on September 23. (Language)
