Four ministers of Punjab resigned from their posts on Sunday. Cabinet ministers Balkaur Singh, Chetan Singh Jodmajra, Brahm Shankar Jimpa and Anmol Gagan Mann resigned from their posts. According to the report, Taranpreet Singh Sondh, Mohinder Bhagat, Hardeep Singh Mundia, Barinder Kumar Goyal and Dr. Ravjot can be made ministers. There is talk of removing four ministers and appointing five new ministers. One post in the cabinet was vacant due to Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer being elected as a Lok Sabha member.
Preparations for the swearing-in of new ministers have also begun at Punjab Raj Bhavan. According to sources, the swearing-in ceremony will take place on Monday at 5 pm. After the victory in the by-election on Jalandhar West seat, there were chances of reshuffle in the cabinet of Bhagwant Mann government. It was believed that Mohinder Bhagat could be made a cabinet minister. He had won by a margin of 37000 votes. Earlier, in November last year, there was a reshuffle in the cabinet, in which Chetan Singh Jodmajra was given the Ministry of Mines. Gurmeet Singh Meet was given the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann had promised to make Mohinder Bhagat, who reached the Assembly after winning the by-election of Jalandhar West constituency, a minister during his election campaign.
Some lack activity and some are embroiled in controversies
In the Bhagwant Mann government, Cabinet Minister Chetan Singh Jodmajra’s name came into controversy over his behavior with Dr. Raj Bahadur, who was the Vice Chancellor of Baba Farid University. After that, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann changed his department, but kept him in the cabinet despite heavy pressure from the opposition. Similarly, Balkar Singh was also surrounded by controversy over a viral video, but the government did not take any action against him. Apart from these, Anmol Gagan Mann was not very active in her departments. It is believed that now Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has taken the decision to remove these ministers after consulting with the central leadership of the party. In place of 2 ministers from Doaba, Balkar Singh and Brahm Shankar Jimpa, Dr. Ravjot and Mohinder Bhagat from Doaba can be given a place in the cabinet.
