Sarva Pitru Amavasya 2024: Sarva Pitru Amavasya is considered the last day of Shradh Paksha. On this day, Shradh can be performed for the ancestors whose death date is not known. Apart from this, Shradh and Tarpan rituals are performed on this day for the peace of the souls of people who died unknown and untimely death. According to the Drik Panchang, Sarva Pitru Amavasya is on 02 October this year. Shradh is performed for all ancestors on this day. It is known as Amavasya Shradh or Sarvapitru Moksha Amavasya. Tarpan: On the day of Sarvapitre Amavasya, tarpan should be offered to the ancestors by adding black sesame seeds, kusha, barley and white flowers in water. It is believed that by doing this, the ancestors are pleased.
Pinddaan: On the day of Sarvapitri Amavasya, do tarpan and pinddaan. For this, make a pind by mixing rice, cow milk, ghee, jaggery and honey and after offering it to the ancestors, immerse it in water.
Recite Gita: Reciting Shrimad Bhagwat Gita during Shraddha Paksha is considered very auspicious. It is believed that reading or listening to Shrimad Bhagwat Katha during Shraddha Paksha liberates the ancestors. Recite Gita on the day of Sarvapitri Amavasya.
Panchbali Karma: Brahmin food and Panchbali Karma have great importance in Shraddha. In Panchbali, food is kept for five different people. On the day of Sarvapitre Amavasya, Panchbali Karma i.e. offer food to crow, ant, cow, dog and god.
