Pre-election battle

This video going viral on social media is from Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa College in Delhi. Just 4 days before the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections, a fight broke out between the students. In this video, it can be clearly seen that some candidates are standing in front of the Principal’s office. Meanwhile, a group of students enters there and grabs the collar of a student standing in the middle and pulls him out. Everyone starts beating him with kicks and punches. During this clash, the turban of the victim student fell off and the matter got worse. Many students jumped to rescue him.

The victim student lodged an FIR

According to reports, the name of the victim student is Pavit Gujral, who had gone to file nomination for the elections. Pavit has lodged a complaint at the police station. Pavit says that the accused pulled his hair and tried to tear his T-shirt. During this, Pavit’s turban also fell off. This incident happened on September 22. Police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (BNS). Pavit alleges that the accused include not only people from the college but also some from outside. Their aim was to stop Pavit from filing nomination.

What is the whole matter?

Let us tell you that Khalsa College Principal Gurmohinder Singh had written a letter to DUSU demanding separate elections. He said that he will conduct student elections in his college. This decision was taken under the leadership of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC). However, many students opposed it. Protests have been going on in the college for many days regarding this. Elections are to be held in Khalsa College on 27 September.
