Jerusalem/Beirut: The war with Hezbollah has intensified after a deadly Israeli airstrike in Lebanon killed 500 people. The Israeli military said today that it attacked dozens of Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon overnight. Israel has targeted Iran-backed Hezbollah sites in Lebanon for decades with air strikes, while Hezbollah launched a deadly retaliation against Israel.
Hezbollah said this morning that it had attacked several Israeli military targets, including an explosives factory, 60 km (37 miles) inside Israel with Fadi series rockets.
According to Hezbollah, it carried out this attack at around 4 am. During this, Israel’s explosive factory and Megiddo airfield were attacked 3 times separately overnight. In view of Hezbollah’s counterattack, emergency has been imposed in Israel till 30 September. After almost a year of war against Hamas in Gaza on its southern border, Israel has now shifted its focus to the northern border. In these areas, Hezbollah is firing rockets in support of Hamas, which is also supported by Iran.
Hundreds of Hezbollah hideouts destroyed in Israeli attack
The Israeli army said it targeted militant cell Hezbollah targets in south Lebanon with artillery and tanks. Police in northern Israel said Hezbollah fired hundreds of rockets in response. Fragments of interceptor missiles were found in various areas. Lebanese officials said Israeli air strikes on Lebanon on Monday killed about 500 people and forced thousands to flee for safe havens.
