Patna, September 27 (IANS). Bihar Tourism Department Minister Nitish Mishra said on Friday that tourist facilities are being continuously developed in the state. Due to this, an increase in the number of tourists has also been recorded. Initiatives have been taken for construction and development of various tourist structures and hotels with modern facilities, development of means of transport, construction of ropeways at important tourist destinations.
He said that due to the construction and development of infrastructure at tourist places and the number of tourists coming from other states and foreign tourists, there is an unprecedented increase. About 5.46 lakh foreign tourists visited the state in the year 2023. Whereas, till July 2024, a total of 2.67 lakh foreign tourists have visited the state. Currently, devotees from across the country and abroad are coming to Bihar for the Pitru Paksha fair going on in Gayaji.
In a press conference on the occasion of World Tourism Day, he said that the availability of historical, religious, cultural and natural scenic spots gives Bihar state a special place on the world tourism map. The government is continuously working for the development of the birthplace of Mata Janaki, schemes are being implemented for the complete development there. 50 acres of land is being acquired for the development there.
He said that in the coming days, there is a plan to make the traditional Chhath festival a tourism festival, in which people from all over the country can see the Chhath Puja event through tour packages. The competition ‘Mera Block Mera Gaurav’ for one tourist destination in every block and ‘Bihar: Through the eyes of an influencer’ for social media influencers is going to start from October 2.
Secretary of Tourism Department, Lokesh Kumar Singh, while explaining the features of tourism policy, called that entrepreneurs can come and get capital subsidy directly on 18 types of schemes. The Tourism Department has given administrative approval for a new scheme worth approximately Rs 509.78 crore in the financial year 2023-24.
