BJP's Victory in MCD Standing Committee Election: BJP captured the vacant seat of MCD Standing Committee, Sunder Singh Tanwar won the election.

New Delhi. BJP has won today in the elections held on the only vacant seat of the Standing Committee of the House of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). BJP candidate Sundar Singh Tanwar was declared the winner in the election for MCD Standing Committee seat. 115 votes were cast in favor of Sundar Singh. Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party and Congress had boycotted the elections. Due to the boycott, AAP and Congress councilors did not participate in the voting due to which the BJP candidate won the election unopposed. With this, BJP has now got majority in the MCD Standing Committee. Of the total 18 members of the Standing Committee, there are 10 members from BJP and 8 members from Aam Aadmi Party.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva and other party leaders congratulating Sundar Singh Tanwar after the victory.

Expressing happiness over BJP’s victory, party councilor Raja Iqbal Singh said that this is the victory of democracy. We participated in the elections and Aam Aadmi Party knew that they would lose the floor test, so they left the field in advance. Your leaders are experts in lying. Unless parties participate in elections, the future of democracy will not be bright. On the question of AAP going to the court, the BJP councilor said that he is free to do so, but the Aam Aadmi Party is always pulled up in the court.

Earlier, Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi had postponed the elections till October 5. After this decision of the Mayor, Delhi LG VK Saxena on Thursday evening had ordered the MCD Commissioner to conduct the standing committee elections. But due to the opposition of AAP Manish Sisodia, the elections could not be held on Thursday, after which voting took place today i.e. on Friday. It is noteworthy that two days ago, Dilshad Garden Colony councilor Preeti and Green Park area councilor Sarita Phogat had left Aam Aadmi Party and joined BJP.
