Jerusalem: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s big statement has come after the assassination of Hezbollah’s top leader Sayyid Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon. Netanyahu has given a dire warning to other countries in the Middle East, including Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has been supporting Hezbollah for decades and appealed to Muslims to unite and fight a war against Israel after Nasrallah’s death. Netanyahu said that there is no place in Iran and the Middle East that is beyond Israel’s reach. Netanyahu roared at Khamenei, saying “Whoever kills us, we will eliminate him.”
On Saturday, the Israeli army announced that it had killed 64-year-old Hassan Nasrallah in Friday’s attack. After this there was panic from Lebanon to Iran. Israel launched a massive attack on Friday and Saturday targeting dozens of Hezbollah positions in eastern and southern Lebanon. In response, Hezbollah also fired rockets at northern Israel. Meanwhile, the Israeli army had traced Nasrallah’s hideout and killed him in a targeted attack.
Netanyahu had ordered the elimination of Nasrallah
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Saturday that he personally authorized the operation to eliminate Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) jets then bombed Hezbollah strongholds in southern Beirut overnight, destroying several residential buildings. Nasrallah was also killed in this attack. That is why Benjamin Netanyahu ended his US tour midway on Friday and returned home. Whereas he was to return on 28th September i.e. Saturday night.
Nasrallah was responsible for the murder of Israelis and Americans
Netanyahu addressed his country after Nasrallah’s assassination, saying he was responsible for carrying out numerous attacks on Israelis and foreign civilians in the 1980s, including high-profile bombings. These attacks included the 1983 bombings in Beirut, which killed 63 people at the US Embassy, as well as hundreds of US Marines and French paratroopers. Netanyahu said the death of “terrorist” Nasrallah was necessary to degrade Hezbollah’s capabilities. As long as Nasrallah was alive, he was quickly restoring the capabilities that we had earlier stripped from Hezbollah. “We have now settled our account with the man responsible for the murder of countless Israelis, hundreds of Americans and dozens of French citizens, including dozens of French citizens.”
Yahya Sinwar will now know that Nasrallah will not come to save him
Netanyahu said that Nasrallah’s killing had become a necessary condition. This will now accelerate the return of northern Israeli residents who have fled due to cross-border firing. It will also further weaken Hezbollah’s ally Hamas in Gaza. “The more Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar realizes that Hezbollah is no longer coming to save him,” PM Netanyahu said, referring to ongoing efforts to secure the safe release of Israelis held hostage by Hamas on 7 October 2023. The greater the chances of the return of our hostages.
Netanyahu warned the Middle East including Iran
Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu praised the Israeli military and intelligence agencies, including the IDF, Mossad and Shin Bet, for carrying out the operation to eliminate Hezbollah chief Nasrallah. “We are winning,” he said. Netanyahu used Nasrallah’s death as an opportunity to warn Iran. He said Israel’s reach extends across the region, including Iran. Nasrallah’s assassination should serve as a message to Tehran and its proxies. He said, “There is no place in Iran or the Middle East that is beyond Israel’s long arm’s reach. Today you know how true this is.” “I say to the Ayatollah’s regime: whoever killed us, we will eliminate him.”
Attacks on enemies will continue
Concluding his message, Netanyahu reaffirmed his commitment to the safe return of displaced residents and the recovery of hostages, calling this moment a “historic turning point.” He pledged to unite the country – we will fight together, and with God’s help, we will win together.” “We are committed to returning our residents to their homes and all our abducted people. We do not forget them even for a moment.” So till then the attacks will continue.
