Dehradun, September 30 (IANS). The new Film Policy 2024 implemented by the Uttarakhand government has resulted in a boom in film production in the state. Keeping in mind the OTT platforms and web series producers, the government has taken an important decision.
Giving this information, State Director General of Information Banshidhar Tiwari said that under this new policy, increased grant amount has already been earmarked for films in the state, which will encourage film producers. This time, films and web series released on OTT platform have also been included in the grant, which will also benefit digital content creators.
Banshidhar Tiwari said that attracted by the features of the new film policy, many film producers and directors from India and abroad are moving towards Uttarakhand. He has appealed to all the people associated with the film industry to take advantage of this golden opportunity and help in taking forward the rich film culture of Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand Film Development Council has launched the creation of Film Resource Directory as an important initiative for the film industry. This directory is being prepared under the state’s film policy 2024. Its objective is to provide information on talented individuals and institutions associated with film production in the state on a single platform, which will help filmmakers and artistes to pursue their work.
With this new film policy and related initiatives, Uttarakhand is not only becoming a major center of film production, but will also prove to be an important step towards enriching the cultural heritage of the state.
While talking to the journalists, he said, we have created such a directory under the rules in the state so that the people of the state can benefit. He said that whoever comes to the state to shoot a film, we are making a directory of sites, locations, hotel resorts to stay around, details of taxis, details of local artists so that those shooting the film can get all the information at one place. To increase the shooting of films in the state, we have increased the subsidy for feature films to Rs 3 crore and the subsidy for local films to Rs 2 crore. Along with this, if any producer gives work to local artists, then a provision of separate subsidy has been made for him.
