Kolkata. Junior doctors have again gone on strike in West Bengal. Junior doctors say that to ensure their safety, they have decided not to work in government hospitals indefinitely. Junior doctors have said that even after the meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee, no positive steps have been taken by the West Bengal government for their safety. Doctors are being attacked continuously. Other demands are also not being met. The striking junior doctors have said that they will remain on strike in hospitals until the West Bengal government takes action. He has said that there was no other option left.
The latest anger of doctors is the incident at Sagar Dutt Medical College located in Kamarhati, Kolkata. Recently, after the death of a female patient in Sagar Dutt Medical College, her family members beat up the doctors and nurses. Only after this the junior doctors had warned that they could once again go on strike. On Sunday, junior doctors had also taken out a torch procession from Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College to Shyambazar intersection as a protest. No action was taken by Mamata Banerjee’s government on his latest warning. After which now the Junior Doctors Association of West Bengal has decided to go on strike once again.
Earlier, junior doctors had gone on strike in protest against the rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata. After talks with CM Mamata Banerjee and assurance of fulfilling the demands, the junior doctor returned to work after 42 days. Doctors have now made up their mind that they will not return to work until Mamata Banerjee’s government fulfills all their demands. Now everyone’s eyes are on the West Bengal government to see what it does to end the junior doctors’ strike again.
