Due to floods in many states of India, normal life has become disrupted. Meanwhile, the central government on Monday approved the release of a total of Rs 675 crore as central share from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for the three flood-affected states of Gujarat, Manipur and Tripura. How much help to which state?
Out of Rs 675 crore sanctioned by the Central Government, Rs 600 crore has been allotted to Gujarat, Rs 50 crore to Manipur and Rs 25 crore to Tripura. A statement from the Union Home Ministry said that these three states have been affected due to extremely heavy rainfall, floods and landslides during the south-west monsoon this year.
When will other states get help?
Recently many states of India like Assam, Mizoram, Kerala, Tripura, Nagaland, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Manipur have been affected by floods. Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCT) have been deployed in all these states to assess the damage. Assistance will be given to these states after the IMCT report.
Recently, Bihar and West Bengal are also in the grip of severe floods. IMCT will soon be sent to these states also so that the damage can be assessed on the spot.
How much help did the central government give this year?
In the year 2024, the Central Government has released Rs 9044.80 crore from SDRF to 21 states, Rs 4528.66 crore from NDRF to 15 states and Rs 1385.45 crore from SDMF to 11 states. Along with financial assistance, the Central Government has provided all logistical support to all flood affected States including deployment of NDRF teams, Army teams and Air Force support.
