Jammu and Kashmir elections: Highest voting in Kishtwar district, lowest in Srinagar

New Delhi, October 2 (IANS). All three phases of voting have been completed for 90 assembly seats in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. If we look at all the phases together, Kishtwar district witnessed the highest voting percentage of 80.20 percent. At the same time, the lowest turnout was in Srinagar at 30.08 percent. Apart from this, the second district with less than 50 percent voting was Pulwama, where 46.99 percent votes were cast.

According to information received from the Election Commission of India, more than 70 percent voting took place in 10 of the 20 districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Voting was 76.09 percent in Udhampur district, 75.88 percent in Samba, 74.68 percent in Reasi, 74.37 percent in Poonch, 73.34 percent in Kathua, 71.40 percent in Jammu, 71.32 percent in Doda, 71.13 percent in Rajouri and 70.57 percent in Ramban district.

At the same time, 67.68 percent voters cast their votes in Bandipore district, 66.79 percent in Kupwara, 63.28 percent in Budgam, 63.14 percent in Kulgam, 62.83 percent in Ganderbal, 61.03 percent in Baramulla, 57.90 percent in Anantnag and 57.01 percent in Shopian district.

If we talk about assembly constituencies, there were five seats including all the three phases, where more than 80 percent voting took place. In the first phase, 82.16 percent voting took place in Inderwal and 80.67 percent voting took place in Padder-Nagaseni. In the second phase, 80.45 percent votes were cast on Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat. In the third phase, 81.47 percent voting took place in Marh (SC) assembly seat and 80.34 percent voting took place in Chhamb seat.

According to the Election Commission, 61.38 percent voting took place in the first phase for 24 assembly seats on September 18. In the second phase on September 25, 57.31 percent voting took place. In this phase, votes were cast for 26 assembly seats. In the last phase on October 1, 69.65 percent voting took place. In this, voting took place for 40 assembly seats. Counting of votes will take place on October 8.
