New Delhi, October 2 (IANS). The people of Delhi have received a big gift before Diwali. Now, you can avail huge discounts while buying a new vehicle after scrapping your old vehicle. The plan to give exemption on motor vehicle tax has been approved by the Delhi government.
The special thing about this scheme is that after the Certificate of Deposit (COD) is issued, it will remain valid for the next three years. Delhi Government will now give exemption on ‘Motor Vehicle Tax’ to Delhiites in purchasing new vehicles if their old vehicles are scrapped.
This scheme has been approved by Chief Minister Atishi and will be notified very soon. Under this scheme, people will get exemption in motor vehicle tax if they deposit the ‘Certificate of Deposit’ (COD) of the old scrapped vehicle in the registered vehicle scrapping facility during the registration of new commercial and non-commercial vehicles.
Under this scheme, there will be 20 percent rebate in motor vehicle tax on registration of new non-transport petrol, CNG, LPG powered vehicles and 15 percent rebate for such diesel powered vehicles.
Petrol, CNG, LPG powered vehicles used in transport (commercial) will be given 15 percent rebate in motor vehicle tax and such new diesel powered vehicles will be given 10 percent rebate.
It is noteworthy that ‘Certificate of Deposit’ (COD) will remain valid for three years from the date of issue. After this scheme, people in Delhi will have much more convenience in scrapping their old vehicles and buying new vehicles. They will also get a good discount.
