Hazaribagh, October 2 (IANS). Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Hazaribagh in Jharkhand on Wednesday on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti. The PM, who arrived at the concluding ceremony of Parivartan Yatra, met people of the tribal community before addressing the gathering at Matwari Maidan. During this, the people of the tribal community demanded the Prime Minister to protect their religion and culture and especially expressed their concern to the Prime Minister regarding infiltration.
Chief Soma Oraon while talking to IANS said that today we had a face to face conversation with PM Modi. We had earlier requested PM Modi to adopt Rohtasgarh Fort in Kaimur, Bihar through speed post. However, PM Modi took cognizance and a tender worth Rs 139 crore was issued for this. Earlier no one could go there even on foot. But today you will be able to reach Rohtasgarh Fort directly by car. Along with this, many other development works have also taken place there. First of all we have congratulated PM Modi for this. But we have made two-three special demands from PM Modi.
He said that the first demand is that we have demanded to pass the delisting bill, for which the movement has been going on for the last several years. This movement is very old. Late Karthik Oraon had introduced the transfer bill of 348 MPs in the House in the 1967 session. But the then Prime Minister late Indira Gandhi did not allow that bill to be passed. The same half-hearted work is being done by the Tribal Security Forum.
He said that the bill states that those tribes who are leaving their traditions and customs and adopting Christianity, Islam or any other religion, such people should not be included in the Scheduled Tribes. Such people should not be given the benefit of Scheduled Tribe. I have clearly told PM Modi to get the delisting bill passed.
The second demand was that in Jharkhand, a resolution was passed by the cabinet in 2013, which said that if a tribal girl marries a non-tribal person, her caste certificate will be made from her maternal house. But now its ill effects are being seen. People of other religions are also taking advantage of this and are getting jobs, land and other benefits. Today in the meeting, a demand was made from PM Modi to save the tribals, tribes and Jharkhand.
Mukhiya Devi Kumari, who was present there, said that PM Modi met people representing tribal and tribal communities today. He listened to the problems and concerns of everyone present there. During this, the representative of the tribal society said that if anyone can save our society then it is only PM Modi. Looking at the tribal society, PM Modi said many things regarding upliftment. Only BJP government can uplift Jharkhand.
