The Supreme Court is likely to give its verdict on Thursday in the murder case of former Bihar Science and Technology Minister Brij Bihari Prasad. In this case, eight accused including former MP Surajbhan Singh, former MLA Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla, Rajan Tiwari were acquitted by the Patna High Court. The Supreme Court’s decision may come on the appeal challenging this.

The former minister was murdered in 1998 when he was admitted for treatment at IGIMS. Apart from former minister’s wife and BJP leader Rama Devi, CBI had also filed a petition challenging the order of Patna High Court.

A bench of three judges of the Supreme Court had reserved the order after completing the hearing on August 21 and 22. Now the bench of Justices Sanjeev Khanna, Sanjay Kumar and R Mahadevan will give its verdict on Thursday. In 2009, the lower court had sentenced eight accused to life imprisonment.
