New Delhi. Lack of security and order took a serious turn at the grand air show organized at Chennai’s Marina Beach on the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of the Indian Air Force. A huge crowd gathered at the event organized on Sunday, in which more than 16 lakh people participated. During this period, three people died and more than 230 people were admitted to the hospital. The death of one of the deceased is said to be due to heat stroke.

The deceased have been identified as Srinivasan (48) of Perungalathur, Karthikeyan (34) of Tiruvottiyur and John (56) of Korukuppet, India Today reported. Due to lack of proper arrangements for traffic and crowd management during the program, people had to face a lot of problems. The administration also faced a lot of difficulties in dispersing the huge crowd gathered at Marina Beach after the air show.
People were seen suffering from sun and thirst
The air show started at 11 am and continued till 1 pm. However, many people had gathered there as early as 8 am to get a good seat. People standing in the hot sun also had to face shortage of water. Many elderly people and children fainted due to the heat and crowd. Despite this, nearby water vendors were removed from the venue, leaving people yearning for drinking water.

After the program ended, a large number of people tried to walk out together, causing complete disruption of traffic on Kamarajar Salai. To help the people suffering from fatigue and heat, nearby local people helped by distributing water. There was also a huge crowd at metro stations as people tried to return home through alternative routes.
