During the ongoing Navratri festival in Gujarat, an incident of gang rape of a minor girl has come to light in Kosamba police station area of Surat district. The incident happened when the girl had gone out with her friend.

A sensational incident has come to light from Surat district during the ongoing Navratri festival in Gujarat. An incident of gang rape of a minor girl has come to light in Kosamba police station area of Surat district. This incident happened when the girl had gone out with a friend. Superintendent of Police (Rural) Hitesh Joysar said that this incident happened with a 17-year-old girl in Kosamba police station area at around 11 pm on Tuesday night.
The Superintendent of Police said that the girl had gone to meet her friends after attending her coaching class. At around 10.30 pm he ate ice cream with two of his friends. He and his friend were sitting at a deserted place on the way to a petrol pump on the side of the highway near Mota Borsara village. During this time three people came to him. The three attackers caught hold of the girl, while her friend ran away.
The three took turns to rape the girl and her friend before fleeing with their mobile phones. The police officer said that two accused have been identified. Not only this, a motorcycle has been confiscated. Efforts are being made to nab both the accused. The police officer said that once they are caught, we will also catch the third accused. After running away from the spot, the girl’s friend called out and informed the local people.
After this, people reached the area within half an hour and started the search operation. Meanwhile, the police was also informed. Considering the sensitivity of the matter, senior police officers including Range IG and Superintendent of Police reached the incident site. More than 10 teams have been formed to nab the accused and investigate the incident. Dog squads and forensic teams have also been deployed to collect evidence.
He said that sections 70-B (gang rape of minor), 115-B (causing hurt), 54 (presence of abettor at the time of crime) and 309-4 (causing hurt in attempt to rob) of BNS and sexual offenses against children. A case has been registered on charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. In one such incident, on the night of October 4, three men raped a minor at a secluded place on the outskirts of Vadodara. All three were later arrested.
