Now the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding this. In this letter, IMA has supported the strike of junior doctors. Also demanded from Mamata government to pay immediate attention to these demands. IMA has also said that this matter should be resolved as soon as possible. It is noteworthy that the condition of one of the doctors sitting on fast unto death at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata had deteriorated on Thursday. He has been admitted to the hospital.
In a letter addressed to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, IMA has written that the fast unto death of junior doctors is going to be a week. There is a need to pay immediate attention to the demands of these people and take action on them. It is further written in the letter that the West Bengal government is fully capable of meeting all the demands of the doctors. IMA has written in its letter that peaceful environment and security are not a luxury. It is further written that we appeal to you that this matter with the young doctors should be resolved as soon as possible as elders and as the head of the government. The entire medical fraternity of India is worried about this and believes that you can save their lives. IMA has written that we would be very happy if the Indian Medical Association can provide any cooperation in this matter.
Meanwhile, the state health department had sent a team of four specialist doctors to the site in the Esplanade area where the doctors are on fast. Its purpose was to assess the health condition of the seven doctors who were on hunger strike for the last five days.
