Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Saturday termed Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi’s statement on the drone sighted on the India-China border in Kinnaur district as inappropriate. Revenue Minister Negi, who is the MLA from Kinnaur constituency, had on Monday said that drones were sighted along the India-China border in Kinnaur district and were possibly being used for surveillance and spying purposes.
Responding to Negi’s statement, the Governor said that in today’s era no one has the courage to encroach on our borders. And even if a drone is seen, the matter should be reported to the central government. Such a statement is inappropriate and should not be made. Speaking to media persons in Shimla, the Governor said, “I think this is a matter of the Central government, not the state government.”
The Revenue and Horticulture Minister had said on Monday that work is underway to build roads up to the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in both Shipki La and Rishidogari. The possibility of surveillance and spying by these Chinese drones cannot be ruled out.
The minister had urged the central government to take note of the matter and issue necessary instructions. He had asked the Central government to take strong cognizance and take necessary action on Chinese drones violating Indian space. The tribal districts of Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti share a 240 km long border with China, which is crossed by nine high-altitude mountain passes. Passes through.
