He opened his own production company, Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited (ABCL), but the company went bankrupt due to continuous losses. The loan amount was about Rs 90 crore and 55 cases were registered under various sections including default. This was the time when Amitabh Bachchan had neither work nor money. It is even said that the people who had given him loans used to come to his door and abuse him.

Amitabh Bachchan formed his production company ABCL in the year 1995. Seeing his name and status many people were eager to invest money. The company did a turnover of Rs 65 crore in the first year and also earned a profit of Rs 15 crore. But, the very next year the business started declining and by 1999 the company did not even have money to pay salaries. Even his bungalow ‘Prateeksha’ was mortgaged.
Industrialist extended a helping hand
Amitabh Bachchan had lost almost everything, only determination and belief in himself. Seeing him in trouble, a well-known industrialist of that time also extended his helping hand. But, Amitabh Bachchan refused to take the money. He gave preference to work over money and once again used his strength i.e. acting as a weapon to fight difficulties.
‘Mohabbatein’ helped him overcome the challenge
Amitabh Bachchan asked for help, but not money, but work. He contacted Yash Chopra and asked him to give him something. Yash made the multi-starrer film ‘Mohabbatein’ with Amitabh Bachchan at the centre. It is said, ‘Himmate marda to madad-e-khuda’. When the megastar started facing challenges, luck also started supporting him. His film proved to be a super-duper hit. After this, Amitabh got a line of films and started getting hit films one after the other.
KBC made him a millionaire again
In these difficult times, the biggest gamble was played with Kaun Banega Crorepati. Although through this show, others are offered to become millionaires, but in reality Amitabh Bachchan became a millionaire again. He earned Rs 15 crore from the first season itself. After this he never again had to face failure and difficulties. There was a queue of films and advertisements near him. He returned every penny of every debtor and returned like a king. You will be surprised to know that from the year 2000 till now i.e. in about two and a half decades, Amitabh has not only got himself out of debt, but today he has become the owner of about Rs 3,400 crore.
