Norway government will give 90 million dollars to World Health Organization

Oslo, October 15 (IANS). The Norwegian government has announced major financial assistance to the World Health Organization (WHO). Norway has pledged NOK 1 billion ($93 million) over the next four years (2025–2028).

The Norwegian government said in a press release on Monday that WHO is making an important contribution towards strengthening the global healthcare system. This is an important step taken by Norway in the same direction. Which shows its (Norway’s) dedication towards this campaign.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gehr Storr said, “The importance of the World Health Organization is greater now than ever.”

He further said, “WHO has many times organized various meetings with great ease during times of crisis and established coordination between different bodies.”

The purpose of such investment rounds is to secure sustainable financing for the World Health Organization. According to news agency Xinhua, Norway is hosting the event along with France, Germany, Brazil, Mauritania, South Africa and Saudi Arabia.

This cooperation of Norway will be flexible, that is, it will be different from the mandatory contribution and donation given to WHO.

Currently, WHO receives most of its funding from voluntary contributions.
