New Delhi. The hurdle in the way of Milkipur assembly by-election of Ayodhya has been removed. BJP leader Gorakhnath Baba has withdrawn the petition filed in Allahabad High Court against the election of former SP MLA Awadhesh Prasad. Now the question is whether voting will be held in Milkipur along with the by-elections for the other 9 assembly seats of UP on November 13 or will the Election Commission fix some other date for this? The country’s Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar had announced the schedule of assembly elections to be held in Maharashtra and Jharkhand a day earlier on Tuesday. Along with this, he had also released the election schedule for the remaining 9 seats except Milkipur for the by-elections to be held in 10 assembly seats of UP.
CEC Rajiv Kumar had told that the election related matter on Milkipur seat is pending in the court due to which elections cannot be held here. Now the BJP leader has, in a way, cleared the way for the Milkipur assembly by-election by withdrawing his petition. BJP leader Gorakhnath Baba’s advocate Rudra Vikram Singh, while confirming the withdrawal of his petition from the court, said that we had filed an election petition in 2022 against Awadhesh Prasad Singh in the case of fraud regarding the affidavit filed at the time of elections.

Singh said that the entire affidavit submitted by SP leader Awadhesh Prasad was fake because the person from whom the notary was obtained did not have a license to sell it. The hearing of this case was going on in the High Court, but later Awadhesh Singh resigned from the post of MLA because he has been elected as MP. Now the Election Commission has said that the elections will be delayed due to the petition, so we have decided to withdraw it because we do not want the people of Milkipur to be deprived of the right to elect their MLA.
