Jammu and Kashmir: After taking oath as Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah directed the Union Territory Police to minimize public inconvenience during movement of VIPs. In his first instructions to the police, he said that they should avoid waving sticks and aggressive gestures when passing through the road.
CM Omar Abdullah wrote on his social media handle I have instructed them to minimize the use of sirens so that people do not face any inconvenience. He said that the police should not wave sticks or use aggressive gestures. I have asked my cabinet colleagues to follow the same example. Our conduct should be favorable to the people. We are here to serve people, not to inconvenience them.

Let us tell you that LG Manoj Saxena administered the oath of office and secrecy to Omar Abdullah and his council of ministers at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Center (SKICC) in Srinagar. Before taking oath, Omar said that he was eager to work together with the central government. I have some specifications. I was the last Chief Minister to complete a six-year tenure. Now I will become the first Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that being the CM of a Union Territory is a completely different matter. It has its challenges. I hope that the status of Union Territory will be temporary. We look forward to working together with the Government of India to solve the problems of the people.
