Bhopal 18 October (IANS). A case of controversial statement of a Congress leader has come to light in Madhya Pradesh. Where before the by-election, Sheopur MLA Babu Singh Jandel has increased the party’s troubles by commenting on Lord Shankar. The leaders are beginning to fear that this statement may become a ‘self goal’ for the party.
By-elections are to be held in two assembly seats of the state, Budhni and Vijaypur. The date of voting has also been decided and political parties are busy selecting candidates. Preparations for by-elections are in full swing. Meanwhile, Congress MLA from Sheopur Babu Jandel has made a controversial statement regarding Lord Shankar. This statement has heated up the politics of the state. A case has also been registered against the Congress MLA.
BJP is the attacker after the statement of Congress MLA. The party is once again openly terming Congress as anti-Sanatan. On the other hand, Congress is on the defensive and is calling this statement many years old.
Political analysts believe that the by-election of Vijaypur Assembly is going to be interesting but the statement of the MLA has created a problem for the Congress. Congress leaders always make such statements, especially at the time of elections, which are certain to cause losses to the party. Now there is a fear that this statement of Babu Singh Jandel might prove to be a suicide goal for the party.
This is what the statements of Congress leaders during the last elections have done. The party has not taken the statement of the Congress MLA very seriously and the possibility of its impact on the voters cannot be ruled out. If Congress had shown some strictness as soon as the statement came out, a positive message could have been sent among the public.
There are two assembly constituencies in the state, Budhni and Vijaypur, where MLAs have resigned from their membership. The election schedule has been declared by the Election Commission. Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who was MLA from Budhni, has been elected MP from Vidisha parliamentary constituency, while Congress MLA from Vijaypur Assembly Ramniwas Rawat has joined BJP. Rawat is currently the Forest Minister in the Mohan Yadav government.
