Imphal, October 24 (IANS). Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said in a statement on Wednesday that 7,660 houses will be built for the violence-affected people in the state.
Biren Singh said that many families have been living in different schools and colleges since the outbreak of caste violence in May last year. 7,660 temporary houses will be built for these people.
The Chief Minister further said that approval has been given for construction of temporary houses for the displaced people living in different relief camps in nine districts of the state. Most of these displaced people belong to the tribal community.
In fact, out of 7,660 houses, maximum 1,813 houses will be built in Kangpokpi district. Apart from this, 1,331 houses will be built in Churachandpur district, 1,217 in Kakching district, 1,015 in Bishnupur, 594 in Imphal East, 880 in Tengnoupal, 511 in Chandel, 225 in Imphal West and 74 in Kamjong.
Speaking to the media, he said that the amount received from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is not enough, so he spent Rs 4 lakh each for the construction of about 2,500 houses in the areas around Phubala (Moyang), Sericulture Farm, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi. He said that metalled roads would be constructed within a radius of 8-10 kilometers from the district headquarters in the hilly districts, the estimated cost of which would be around Rs 175 crore.
The Chief Minister said that out of 117 projects (both hill and valley) proposed by the state government, the Center has recently approved only 57 projects under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and an amount of Rs 217 crore has been sanctioned for this. Is of.
