These officers have now approached the Himachal High Court, demanding cancellation of the FIR lodged by a woman under Section 3 (1) (P) of the SC-ST Act against several top police officers including former Himachal Pradesh DGP Sanjay Kundu. Have knocked on the door. Accepting their petition, the High Court has scheduled the hearing of the case on 24th October i.e. Thursday.
According to the case, his wife has lodged an FIR in Shimla’s Sadar Police Station against 10 police officers including former state DGP Sanjay Kundu, two retired police officers, three SPs for firing the police head constable and harassing him. This case has been registered on the basis of the complaint of Meena Negi, resident of Kinnaur, wife of the head constable who was dismissed from the job, in which she had accused her husband of harassment.
This case pertains to the tenure of the previous BJP government, when Sanjay Kundu was the chief of the state police. The former head constable and his wife are natives of tribal district Kinnaur. Retired and current police officers against whom the woman has filed a case accusing, include former DGP Sanjay Kundu, retired IPS officers Himanshu Mishra and Arvind Sharda along with Diwakar Dutt Sharma, Shalini Agnihotri, Anjum Ara Khan, Bhagat Singh Thakur, Pankaj Sharma, Meenakshi and Baldev Sharma are included. Interestingly, among the police officers who have been accused, many IPS officers are currently posted on senior positions.
According to the complaint given by the complainant woman, the senior police officers, in a spirit of revenge, misused their high position and made fabricated and false allegations against her husband Dharam Sukh Negi and conducted a departmental inquiry, with eight years of service remaining, dated 09-07-2020. He was forcefully insulted and fired from his job.
Money of fired head constable withheld for four years
The woman has said in the complaint that her husband was ordered to collect rent of Rs 1,43,424 from the government accommodation allotted to him by the police headquarters without work out. Apart from this, his gratuity, DCRG and other retirement benefits worth lakhs of rupees have been withheld from 2020 till now.
According to the complainant woman, to vacate her husband’s government residence, the then police officers humiliated the family in the society by sending notice after notice to Police Residential Colony Bharari and their native village Ramni in Kinnaur district.
The woman said in the complaint that in November 2023, she had given an application to the court, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, Home Secretary and Superintendent of Police, Shimla, giving detailed information about the atrocities and inhuman treatment meted out to her husband and his family.
The woman said – brought the family to the brink of starvation
The woman has alleged that the former DGP and other police officers have caused social, financial and mental pain to her husband and family. He has also mentioned in the complaint that his family has been brought to the brink of starvation.
