New Delhi. Cyclonic storm Dana has wreaked havoc in the coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal. There is heavy rain in the area due to winds blowing at a speed of 110 kilometers per hour. Considering the seriousness of the situation, about 14 lakh people of Odisha have been shifted to safe camps.
High alert in coastal areas, train and flight services affected
More than 300 trains have been canceled in West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh due to Cyclone Dana. Kolkata airport also remained closed till 9 am, due to which 281 domestic and 29 international flights had to be cancelled. Also, fishermen have been advised not to go into the sea for the next two days. High alert has been issued in more than 12 districts of Odisha.
NDRF teams deployed, tight security arrangements
288 NDRF teams have been deployed to deal with the cyclone in Odisha. Also, the state government has strengthened security arrangements in the coastal areas. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi took stock of the post-landfall situation and monitored relief operations at Rajiv Bhawan, Bhubaneswar.
Visited the Special Relief Commissioner’s office to review the situation. After making landfall, the impact of the storm is gradually decreasing. A detailed discussion has been done to study and naturalize the situation.

Dana’s impact reaches Bihar and Jharkhand
The Meteorological Department says that the impact of Cyclone Dana will be seen in Odisha, West Bengal as well as Bihar and Jharkhand. It is believed that the storm may hit the surface around Dhamra port in Odisha and may cause massive damage in many areas.
Indian Coast Guard on high alert
The Indian Coast Guard has been put on high alert in view of the cyclone. Ships and aircraft have been deployed to deal with any emergency at sea. The Defense Ministry said in a statement that the Coast Guard is closely monitoring the situation and is fully prepared to deal with any emergency.
