Dhaka: With the change of power in Bangladesh, the problems of former Prime Minister Khaled Zia are decreasing one by one. This time Khalid Zia has got a big relief in the murder case of 42 people. A court in the capital Dhaka quashed a case filed against former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and three others over the deaths of 42 people in 2015. That means Khalid Zia has now been acquitted in the murder case of 42 people. This is a big victory for his political career. In Bangladesh, after the ouster of former PM Sheikh Hasina in August, decisions are continuously coming in favor of Zia.

Khaled Zia was accused of causing the death of 42 people in the violence during the nationwide bandh called by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). Khalid Zia was considered the accused for their deaths. According to the news of government news agency ‘Bangladesh Sambad Sangastha’, Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Ziadur Rahman gave this order on Thursday while accepting the report submitted by the police in this regard. According to the news, cases registered against three other accused, BNP Standing Committee member Rafiqul Islam Mia, former Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Imaazuddin Ahmed and former BNP advisor Shamseer Mobin Chowdhury have also been dismissed.

Case was registered in 2015

This complaint was made by Jannetri Parishad President AB Siddiqui against Khalid Zia. After this, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate had ordered to register a case against Khalid Zia and others on February 2, 2015. Later the court directed Gulshan police station to file a report in the case. The investigating officer said in the report filed on 21st last month that the allegations against the accused have not been proved true. Last month, the 79-year-old BNP president was acquitted in five other cases, including one of ‘celebrating a fake birthday’ and another of supporting war criminals. (Language)
