BCI Allow for Bar Exam: Bar Exam on Friday Bar Council of India (BCI) told the Supreme Court that LLB final year students have been allowed to appear in the All India Bar Examination (AIB) to be registered as advocates.
Rules for appearing in the exam ready
BCI told the apex court that rules are ready to allow final year students to appear in the All India Bar Exam to be held from next year. The advocate appearing on behalf of BCI before the bench gave this information.
The advocate informed the bench that the interim order passed by the court on September 20 has been complied with. Also said that in compliance with the order, by issuing a notification on September 25, LLB final year students have also been allowed to appear in the bar examination.
The bench was told that for the All India Bar Examination to be held from next year, the rules are ready, we just have to place them before the stakeholders.
Hearing of the case now set
For this, BCI demanded 4 weeks’ time from the bench. After this, the bench adjourned the hearing of the case giving adequate time to BCI.
The Supreme Court on September 20 had ordered the BCI to allow final year LLB students to appear for the bar examination.
The bench had said that final year students cannot be left ‘helpless’.
The bench had said that if final year students are not allowed to appear for AIBE this year, their one year will be wasted. It should not happen.
